Initially the effects of COVID19 on rare earths was not obvious as the Chinese New Year which is generally characterised as a period of fewer trades. Moreover, the fact that there were significant stockpiles meant that suppliers were able to meet buyers’ requirements. Globally the virus is having mixed effects with some companies halting production while others continue to forge ahead, despite the situation.
