Ferrochrome Network Evening

On the 18th of October 2011, Core Consultants hosted their second ferrochrome networking evening, sponsored by SNC Lavalin South Africa.

Key topics for this event featured presentations pertaining to chrome ore, with specific focus on UG2. Tim Aiken, Marketing Manager for Anglo Platinum provided insights into the UG2 volumes from platinum mines and the need for platinum companies to supplement their profits from chrome ore.

John Parker, acting Managing Director of SNC Lavalin, discusses the processing requirements looking at some of the new innovations around the world.

Finally, Hanre Rossouw, Financial Director of chrome giant Xstrata Alloys provides unique insight into the development of chrome ore, the costs and the upcoming Lion Project, which is expected to be the largest chrome ore producer with one of the world’s lowest production costs.

Three presentations were delivered by industry experts, namely John Parker from SNC Lavalin, Hanre Rossouw from Xstrata and Tim Aitken from Angloplatinum
